'Til some dumbfuck in a roundelawagen slams into said classic because he was too busy jacking off onto the rich Corinthian leather while swilling a starbux, eating a scone, day trading more bank ripoff bonuses, running over grannies and kids, and fucking with the inscrutable iDrive to download more kiddie pron to jack off to onto said leather.

Just sayin'.

I admit, I'm not as plugged into the scene as I once was, but those old cars still go for ridiculous cash at Barrett Jackson, no? Any decline in prices could as easily be blamed on the poor economy instead of something nebulous as unpopularity.

Stamping dies do have a finite life, tho... Might explain why those damn yellow slants make such shitty copies, they're using worn out dies.

After a lot of hemming and hawing, the GTO is finally in paint. Suck it, Tex.

Yeah, it's the original color of the car (Pontiac called it "tyrol blue", Chevrolet called it "Marina blue", Oldsmopile called it "Bimini Blue", but it's all GM F code paint). This is a 2 part urethane with clearcoat over it where the original stuff was alkyd enamel, is the only difference.

there was a rip in the bench seat so he has to spend the next twelve years or so bringing a bovine calf to maturity then comes tanning and molding its hide into a leather covering

Parchment (seats, door cards, A pillars, headliner, sail panels, and window sills) on black (dash, carpet, parcel shelf). The interior was toast when we bought the car, but the PO included all of his spares with it, which included new seat skins, headliner, sail panels, and door cards.

Naturally, it's GM vinyl, not alcantara, leather, or even pleather, but it'll do.

Some Ghettoraid-esque dipshit had spraybombed the dash two-tone (upper half black, lower half parchment), but didn't bother to mask off any overspray (or get the back of the glove box door, or the lip or anything), so that had to be corrected as well.

Before any of that goes back in, the interior is getting lined in dynamat, though.
