Piranha's and Spyder's are great starter markers. Tippman or Armotech if you're into scenario/woodsball.

How mechinacly inclined are you? If you're good at that sort of thing or you're willing to learn get a Psycho Ballistics Lightning or SuperBolt from 800paintball.com. It needs a regulator, ASA, and steel-braid hose or macroline (Shouldn't be that expensive to get), but for $100 it's a great deal. Autcockers >>>>>>>>> Spyders edit: if you pay retail for a spyder I will punch you in the face. |

An ASA, or air-source adaptor, is what the HPA or Co2 tank screws into.
A regulator takes the pressure coming from the tank, and keeps the pressure low and consistant. Macroline and steel-braid hose are things you can use to connect the two. You'll need to take the marker to a proshop to get it timed, after you get the parts you need, before you can use it. |

well, it requires alot of work, so I guess you might as well goto the pbnation.com buy/sell/trade forums, and get yourself a spyder or something cheap. spyders should go for $50, no more. |

How do you make the choice between electronic and mechanical? What's the difference?
Can any gun use N2 or CO2 or are guns made for a specific type of air? Is a remote tank a necessity? Last edited by Chelsea; 01-25-2006 at 04:17 PM.. |

Mechanical is completly mechanical, obviously. There's a half-assed electronic, which is used on "electronic" spyders, it really just replaces some of the trigger with electronics, so it's a bit faster but still shitty. Then there's full blown electronic, where an electronic ram replaces some internal mechanical parts, which is known as electropneumatic. Mechanical is the slowest, and has the longest trigger pull. Electronic is slightly faster. Electropneumatic is by far the fastest. Electronic and Electropneumatic can potentially have the same short trigger pulls, but generally Elecronic guns are shitty and are in between high end and mechanical. It really depends on how much you want to spend. Usually, people get a cheap mechanical for their first gun, then move up to a mid range marker, then a really nice one. Obviously ask us first, but if it's electropneumatic it automatically needs HPA, and some mechanicals require it too. You can use HPA on any gun, but you can only use CO2 on guns that don't need HPA. |
