Some footage from Chuckwalla. Quality went to shit during conversion, and there is a ton of shakyness from the vibration, so be forewarned.

First video is the pillion angle, and my ass takes up about 80% of the screen when I'm not in the corners. However, if you skip to the 4:45 mark you can watch a rider crash RIGHT in front of me, and watch me run off the track, narrowly avoiding him and his bike.

Second video is from an afternoon session, with the camera mounted right in front of the windscreen on the front of the fairing. This video is a little less shaky.

I think I've shared this before, but it still holds up. Watch the pass Martin Cardenas makes at the :30 mark, and then the last lap pass for the lead.

But the safety orange

Good choice though, that's a nice shade.

my vfr needs some rubber.

sportbiketrack gear has the single compound piolits for 225 shipped. i'm not to concerend about mileage as dropping 225 bucks a year on rubber is not an issue. i currently have dual compound conti's and i really really hate them. i spend to much time in corners and there is a huge hump in the middle of the tire.

any other recomendations?

Pilot powers are always a safe bet. 2CT's if you're doing anything spirited in the canyons.

Battlax BT-016

Conti doesnt use dual compound technology - they instead cure their rubber at different temps or some shit to get a gradient. I don't like it.

I LOVED my Pilot Road 2s (dual compound) on my old ZX600 and my BT-016 (also dual compound) is awesome on my DRZ. A VFR would tear up PPs like crazy, I'd go for a 2CT or BT016. Actually if it was me I'd go for a pilot road 3 but that's because I like my shit to last.

do you say that because it weighs about 100lbs more than your average liter or 600?

my dad ran single compound power piolits on his 919/hornet which weighs about the same and he didn't have any issues.

My ZX600D weighed in around the same range as a VFR (I don't remember what year you have though) and I toasted a rear PP in 3k miles. To the cords. I'm wasn't even that hard on it (can't wheelie for the life of me)

If 3k miles is good enough for you, great, just cautioning against it. I still run a PP front on my SuMo and have another one in the garage to replace it come time.
