How do/did you come to terms with your own death?

Seeking out people's perspective. Thought this would be the best forum for it. I guess I am going through the phase of contemplating death and the question of the universe. I am interested in the thoughts of genmay.

Death is not to be feared, only the suffering leading to it.

The check engine light when you ECU (cars computer) sets a trouble code. It's no hoax, just because

i guess i figure once i'm dead i won't be around to care that i'm dead.

for instance, before i was ever conceived or born i didn't care. i didn't exist to care that i was not alive.

i imagine it's the same once i die. all of me will cease to exist, including my will and desire to live.

About half an hour-45 minutes after my first post in this thread I lost the ability to move air in or out of my lungs for 15 secs at a time. This after hours of labored breathing. Came close to passing out. Would have died if I was not awake to force myself to breathe.

It's gotten almost that bad a few times. Last night was the worst. But I hung in there. Cant let my mother win by dying first.

Side note. I think I made it worse by taking a Mucinex to break up the phlegm. I think the added froth helped block the swollen air passages. Could be just coincidence/ false conclusion but I am going to leave it as anecdotal evidence and not try confirming my hypothesis by taking another.

i dont think death is something to be afraid of. however, the means by which death comes about can be something to be afraid of.

I'd say my general thought process led to my being generally unconcerned about the issue. I rarely worry about things I cannot control and don't spend much time pondering questions that I know I can't answer. I know I'll die at some point, I know I cannot know what, if anything, happens after death, so I just don't waste time thinking about it. So it's never really been any kind of stress for me.

I used to think exactly this. I no longer do.
