Not that disenfranchising the poor/uneducated would de facto be any different from the system we have now.

The only votes that matter are the ones that are voting for the same thing I want LOL!!!!!

People that stuck it out for 4, 8, or 12 years usually know what it feels like to get shafted more than some dumbfuck prick who uses wikipedia to learn about shit.

When I heard about human vitrification i was like lol wtf mate n chked them science and been like HOLY SHIT SCIENCE IS A COOL MAGAZINE. I also read publications by other fuckers who play with meniscuses and lil tuby things n shit.

My point?
When an educated person wants to know something, it usually takes 5-10 minutes to find peer reviewed information if it is something pretty important and well known.

I'm a dumbass and half retarded and I can find shit. I never go full retard though.

If it was an official system that was part of the process then it would be some pretty firm grounds to knock your rep around for being an asshole. For instance, if the Rep was consistently voting against his people's wishes (which all data would be on record for all to see) then it would be grounds for an automatic replacement election ... or something along those lines. Good luck getting the power in place to allow a system that reduces their power but... it would work!

What is stopping the Reps now? The threat of not being reelected the next time elections roll around?

That's a nice thought, but you're right, that system will never be put in place. Seeing as we couldn't even get the bill passed to let us read bills five days in advance.

Evidence indicates otherwise. That post was painful to read.

Some form of a no confidence vote where once a certain %(something high, like 85 or 90%) of the constituency has voted that they have lost confidence in their elected official/no longer feel he is representing them than some type of special election process would be immediately initiated.

I agree if they don't understand what they are voting on than they shouldn't vote.

Weight votes based on income levels. My vote shouldn't be the same as some fucking blue collar without a degree.

Yeah, this country really needs more policies for the rich, by the rich. That'll help us out.

When you vote for any politician, you're ALWAYS voting for something you can't comprehend.

Republics blow, and democracies are even worse. What we need is a dictator... and some sort of think-tank to select one.

Why not? Some of the people who run some of the most successful companies out there started out as blue collar and still don't have a degree.

Most of our criminal laws are based on the assumption that a significant portion of the population isn't capable of determining right from wrong on a consistent basis. Why would we have criminal laws if they thought otherwise?

The fact that everyone is allowed to vote directly contradicts that notion. What it boils down to is this: The average American is exactly that... average. Not in possession of any notable degree of intellect, not capable of useful critical thought or analysis, and definitely not worthy of having influence over public policy.

Democracies don't work because it's really just mob rule, and mobs make notoriously bad rules. Republics don't work because there's too much room for corruption. We basically have a combination of the two...

With democracy in any form, the people get what they put into it. Democracies aren't bad simply due to mob rule, as any democracy besides the purest form will lay out protections for the minority group(s) giving them basic citizen rights.

Democracies need an educated and involved populace to truly be successful, as the citizens are responsible for the people in office. That's my only major issue with our current government's structure; we're being raised in a society where it's acceptable and almost cool to be apathetic on what's going on in the state and federal legislatures. No one needs a college degree for this to change; a reformed high school education is the best solution, especially in the Civics class, which is a joke for many students. A student should be able to really use critical thought and think outside him/herself when high school is over. At the end of the day though, it will always fall to the will of the people for a nation to change.

Also Ralph your views on criminal laws seem inaccurate to me. Laws aren't made with the assumption that people are too stupid to figure out right from wrong. They are made with assumption, hell, the expectation, that people know right from wrong, but they made the conscious decision to break the law anyway. That's why we have so many degrees of murder, from first degree to involuntary manslaughter. To say we aren't capable of determining right from wrong is to say we aren't capable of any higher thought, and we might as well be animals.
