Feeder mice vs. outdoor cat?

I'm very concerned about my cat because today I discovered that the pupils in one of his eyes doesn't contract with light like it does in his other eye. (One eye will be dilated in bright light and the other wont be) My cat is 10 years old and I think I'm going to have to accept that he is getting old and that his time is limited. So to spice things up for him, I'm thinking of either getting him feeder mice (not enough wild mice come into the house) or to let him become an outdoor cat for the first time in his life. The only issue I have with my cat becoming an outdoor cat is that nearly two years ago, he was outside (without us knowing) and was attacked by a pack of racoons. It was an expensive vet bill and he was in great pain for that time. The only reason I still even consider letting him be an outdoor cat is because our neighbor's cats are all outdoor cats, though I feel like I may not be aware of certain factors that makes that ok.

Anyway, would getting my cat feeder mice bring enough pleasure to my cat to negate the benefits of being an outdoor cat? Even after being attacked nearly two years ago, my cat constantly tries to escape to the outside.

cats are incredibly prone to glaucauma, are his eyes cloudy as well?

Its not really dehabilitating. But one clear eye dilating and the other not is a bad neurological sign

If your cat was declawed DO NOT turn him into an outside cat. He will be fucked out there.

Also, why is this in the pit?

Cat was never declawed and when he was attacked by a pack of raccoons, his claws had not been trimmed so I I'm thinking that says he sucks at fighting despite being a large cat.

Chances are if it's a decade old like you say and not an outdoor cat, that it won't get the hang of it. It's going to get raped, and probably won't even enjoy the experience.

Instead of coughing up absurdly stupid ideas like buying fucking feeder mice for cats (seriously, do you have brain damage?) how about you take the cat to the vet (I assume you're going to do that?) and give the cat some fucking thread or something?

Tie the feeder mice around the baby so the cat will play with him.

Cats, dogs, whatever have instincts for living in the wild. Living indoors and being domesticated doesn't kill those instincts, but it does impair their ability to hone the skills their instinct provides them. After 10 years, your cat isn't going to be proficient in anything other than laying on the window sill soaking up sunlight.

Not all declawed cats are helpless. I saw one with declawed fronts chase off a bobcat.

Not necessarily. I have a geriatric cat with the same issue. It's actually not uncommon and it's just like a loss of muscle tone from being old.

Bravado goes a long way until someone calls his bluff. Also declawed cats can't climb as well without their front claws.
