yeah, there are jobs that are available, until they are taken by one of the millions of people looking for work.

there's more people looking for work than available work.

and, you know, the government totally invented credit default swaps and mortgage backed securities and the government totally rated that shit AAA at the same time the government was betting against it.

isn't it totally obvious how it was all the government's fault?

Yeah you comfortably say a lot of dumb shit.

If a growing business needs the fertile soil of a thriving economy, ours is a quagmire of acidic dogshit.

Birth rate is almost three times higher than the death rate, so at the very least we have to create new positions at a similar speed just to keep unemployment where it is today.

Facts:
-the unemployment rate among Occupy protesters is relatively close to the national average
-for every job opening, there's 4 job seekers

So it's pretty stupid to say "get a job!" when most of them have jobs already, and it's even stupider to say "get a job!" when there's not enough jobs.

I personally don't have trouble finding work -- I do freelance game programming and I've been turning down work because I don't have time for them all. I understand that not everyone has in-demand skills though, and I appreciate the people using their time to protest. Obviously there are some in the movement that are crazy hippies with bad ideas, and unfortunately they get a lot of press. But at the core of what Occupy stands for, there are a few things I agree with 100%

-Reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act

-Raise taxes on the wealthy. The 1950s America wasn't a socialist America by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not saying we go back to those rates, but we should definitely go back to Clinton rates and maybe bump top rates a bit more.

-Take the money out of politics. This is a big one for me -- I feel that it's a core problem with our system. Our representatives spend a crazy amount of time not doing what we elect them to. Limit campaign fundraising and spending SEVERELY. It'd help make sure our representatives represent us instead of the few who donate tons of money and it'll even it harder for incumbents to get easy wins.
