Preventive health care programs across the country are trying to legislate for taxes on sugary drinks, given the stronger contributions to obesity and diabetes. I believe similar attempts are being made for other food types. There are issues with regressivity, but if I had to guess it's something I would expect to see within a couple of years, at least locally. As for your fat people tax, I'd love to know how you plan on validly measuring that for an entire population on a yearly basis.

This is a major focus of chronic disease prevention programs, yes. A bit generalized, but a good post.

Insurance companies are already doing that (for those that are self-insured.)

They sadly do it by BMI

Well, as far as population average models go, BMI is the most efficient method. Those who are invalidly classified make up a small proportion of the population. Regardless, an insurance company pays for their agents to collect data and send it off to a lab, typically very expensive. And even that would pale in comparison to a "fat tax".

My issue is they had someone come in person to take my measurements. Which means they saw exactly what I look like, and I still got the fat tax. This "tax" equates to $13/month (and that's just for me only - my wife and son are under their limits.)

Also there was an article I read once that rated where I live as one of the more physically active cities in the country. (based off of active gym membership usage, and participation in events during the year.)

They also rate where I live as one of the fatter cities in the country (based off of BMI)

Ever try to explain a simple solution and it turns into a research paper? Omitting many details, the solution is as simple as fixing the economy. Adding another asinine tax isn't going to do that.

Their life revolves around nothing but the world needs to adapt and appease them - not the other way around. These people wouldn't last a week in other countries. However - given our piece of shit government we deem it fully worthy to adapt to them for some reason. There is absolutely no reason that fat asses should be supported by our government in any possible way. Their expectations range from fatty bathrooms, motor cars for their fat asses to shop around in, seats big enough for them, enough food for them, parking for them, and people to accommodate them. The listing can just go on and on and on - but it still remains as the most despicable expectations ever. AND WE BEND OVER AND DO IT. Why? Because if they don't they will fucking sue the corporation out of misery. And they will FUCKING WIN. What. The. Fuck.

That's pretty much . Fat people are not a protected class in the vast majority of the United States. Companies make special efforts to accommodate larger people because they want their fucking money. It's capitalism in action, not fear of litigation.

People who have kids that are obese should be fined for being horrid parents. That's the first thing that should happen. I liked that show that used to scare the parents into showing what their fat lazy kids would look like 30 years down the road.

Also, cocks

I mean... hay guys

Parents who have grossly overweight kids that aren't due to some genetic defect or disease are negligent and abusive.

Anybody can sue for any reason. Show me the epidemic of companies actually losing suits for discriminating against someone for being fat.

It's about money. Fat people are a huge (lol) market, and companies would be stupid not to make accommodation for them. Why wouldn't they, to make angry skinny people feel better?

yeah.... that doesnt solve the motivation problem. People are fuckin lazy, and no matter how much you subsidize it, if it makes them move, or isnt coated in grease, they arent doing it.
