Easter Fun: Does the resurrection invalidate the sacrifice?

It's Easter! The time when we celebrate the Spring equinox with all of it's associated paraphernaila... and also the crazy Christian about Jesus because they decided to hijack the holiday.

Yesterday was Good Friday and all we hear is that Jesus died for our sins. He sacrificed himself as the ultimate payment! Praise him!!

Then tomorrow, Easter, all we hear is that Jesus came back to life! In fact, the whole Christian doctrine depends on this one event (Paul states that if the resurrection isn't true, none of it is).

I've experience some major cognitive dissonance regarding these seemingly contradictory events... especially when I was Christian. Though, I've never read anything explaining why the death of Jesus was still a valid sacrifice and payment if he just popped back to life three days later. How the hell does this work?

Why would it? The sacrifice was freely made and without expectation of resurrection. Not really any different from sacrificing and finding out later that you get to live in Heaven/Paradise.

Not true, Jesus predicted his own death and resurrection several times.

Again:

and yet again (redundant... the first link states that it was the third time he'd predicted those events):

Here's another one:

The point is that Jesus knew quite well that he'd come back to life.

Uhhh... where is this in the Bible? The Bible says that his physical body was resurrected. Thomas didn't believe that it was Jesus until he poked his wounds. He even ate food...

If I cut your leg off with a chain saw and 3 days from now they figure out how to regrow it...

Not really a valid analogy. The proper comparison would be if I gave my leg *fully knowing* that it would regrow *before* I gave it. I'm not losing anything, so how could it be considered a sacrifice?

Here, I'll die for your sins. I will sacrifice myself to the Father as payment. Then... I'll just come back to life three days later and zip up to heaven. I'm giving up so much!

In other words, a deliberate temporary loss is not a true sacrifice.

So the agony of having it cut off is no sacrifice.
