You posted that it would cost California a lot to build a fence to keep Texans out....and I posted an article that shows 3 of the top 5 fastest growing cities are in Texas (and only one in Cali). So I guess those imaginary Texans that are flocking to Cali are being replaced by people from somewhere..

It's kind of a figure based on a study done in the early 2000. Essentially, they figured that X extra funding that went into the food stamp program triggered X% additional economic activity.

The idea has merits, but I don't know if it's actually that high of a figure after you figure in taxes, administrative costs, etc.

This is why doing things like cutting unemployment benefits, social security, or food stamps during a recession is incredibly fucking stupid. Yes, it is wealth redistribution. Taxes from the rich (who are most able to pay) is converted to income to the poor, and they spend it immediately at local businesses. If the fucking rich would stop sitting on their cash or spending it overseas we wouldn't be having this problem.

By the way, the food stamp program (SNAP) has an 84% return on investment. That means that every dollar spent ends up making $1.84 in economic activity. In other words, fuck you.

but if we just cut taxes some more, there will be sooo many jobs.

because: it's totally going to work this time. we promise.
