A large portion of the people "leaving the workforce" are baby boomers retiring. IIRC something like 60% of the people "leaving the workforce" had jobs. They are retirees, not just people who have given up on work.

Are you suggesting that we should have another round of stimulus?

Maybe republicans should offer up something meaningful in congress instead of trying to pass a ban on abortions for the purposes of gender selection... I thought republicans were all financial wizards who know how to fix broken economies. Where is your proposal to fix things? Please do tell me how another round of tax cuts for the wealthy is going to fix everything, again...

How is president Obama personally responsible for whatever it is you are blaming him for now? Do you even know or do you just parrot whatever nonsense you hear on the radio or TV because it suits your preconceived notions?

The economy is in GREAT shape, and if you don't believe it just wait until the campaign starts heating up and Obama will tell you himself.

Seriously guys, do you even have a clue what the fuck is going on?

I just read an op ed by allen west who says the usual, Obama is an asshole socialist who's massive deficit spending is killing the nation. Then he goes on to say that we should elect Romney so that Romney can fix the economy like Reagan did.

Do you guys know how Reagan "fixed" the economy?

Massive deficit spending...

So Obama is an asshole for massive deficit spending, which he hasn't, and...

We should be more like Reagan and massively deficit spend for real.

AND YOU CALL US SOCIALISTS?

Reagan raised taxes 11 times.

Obama, the socialist, has continued the Bush tax cuts and has yet to raise taxes.

GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, PEOPLE.

The constant Reagan comparisons are really tedious. It's not 1983, the economic situation is far from the same, Obama isn't Carter, and Romney isn't Reagan.

you haven't seen the campaign ads? obama took over and "Hallelujah!" economic recovery! things go south and now it's all europe...? we're all aware of the democratic mantra that in times of trouble, personal responsibility is an antiquated notion.
how long can the pied piper keep up the "good = us, bad = leftovers" theme? looks like at least 1 more term thanks to the piece of shit the republicans nominated. romney is to republicans what gore was to democrats...that's really the best they can do?!?

Since liberals don't have any brains at all, republicans can't be bothered to explain what they actually hate about this presidency.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to respond to here, but...

An 0.1% increase in unemployment is not "things heading south." The UK is in a double-dip recession (largely because of the austerity measures like the ones the Republicans want to enact here), we are not.

Personal responsibility: anyone that things the President is directly responsible for broad economic trends, especially GLOBAL trends, is an imbecile. That goes for both sides. The President's influence is subtle and slowly felt, especially in the face of extremely negative worldwide trends. Bush had eight years to help fuck things up, but even then policies from Clinton and before are still moving the economy in various ways.

Obama's policies have been far from perfect, but we're doing better than Europe for a reason. It could be a lot worse. Maybe it could be better, but I don't see that happening under the current Republican (not just Romney) dogma of "More of the Same from the last 30 years!" That's what got us into this mess.
