I'm sorry, I thought you were making the "God of the gaps" argument. Sure, lots of smart people believe in God too. Many of them don't even find the theory of evolution or the big bang incompatible with their beliefs. Even da freakin Pope believes in evolution.

And what part of what I said would they disagree with? That the hope is false? Of course a believer would disagree on that point, but the rest of what I said should still be pretty spot on regardless of which religion they adhere to. That is pretty much every fucking religion that has ever existed.

Asking what was there before IS "the God of the gaps" argument.

Not knowing everything does not equal God and I never meant to turn this into a debate about the existence of God, I was just stating how pretty much every religion views God(s).

also there are several theories already about how the universe may "restart" itself.

Just because some scientists are only 99.9% atheist doesn't mean they stand for ignorance and lack of progress. Take away every discovery/contribution to science that wasn't made by a 100% diehard atheist and see what you're left with..

Btw, I wasn't trying to argue for the evidence of God existing simply because some scientists leave the possibility open (and not necessarily the God you and I are thinking of)...just stating a fact.

Your pop culture icons of physics Tyson and Kaku are both atheists, but neither are disrespectful of religious people. I believe Kaku has studied Buddhism and admires the teachings even though he doesn't practice..

Mostly, but he skewered liberals every once and awhile.

Oh no the bible doesn't talk about God's lonely life before he set off to make earth. Were we his only project? maybe he doesn't want us to know about "the others"
