Romney is screwed. Even if his position on this matter wasn't as "eloquently" stated as he mentioned, he still managed to piss me off.

Though I did kind of came out of the video with the understanding not that he was saying the other 47% were lazy, but that he wasn't going to focus on trying to win their vote if they were already decided. I think he was saying that those people are naturally predisposed to voting for the opposing party because of the type of policies that party institutes that directly benefit them. They're a lost cause as far as his campaign is concerned.

Either way, it pisses me off is that he can be so god damned divisive on the issue that he is only concerned about pleasing the other half or just enough of a percentage to give him enough for a seat in the white house.

If I was undecided now, he certainly lost my vote. What a cock gobbler.

We can break this down if you want. I'll even make it an even 24k to allot for 2k a month

Assuming after taxes and all that a family is making 24k a year with only debt being a car payment. we can go from there
Monthly break down

Rent - 600
Renters insurance - 10
Electric - 40
Food - 300
Diapers (for 1 kid) - 75
Car gas (15 miles round trip for work) plus an additional gas for errands) - 125
Car payment (9000 dollar car with. 48 month loan) -200
Car wear and tear and maint. - 50
Car insurance - 75
Health insurance ( assuming main income earners is paid for by employer) - 400
Clothes, shoes, under garments - 60
Personal care - 30
Household items - 20

Comes to a grand total of 1,985. Eree isn't it.

Having 15 dollars left over each month for entertainment and savings.

Real nice raising kids on 24k a year. And yeah once the baby is out of diapers it will free up a little more money but the other costs will go up.

You got some real good thoughts buddy.

How he came into wealth is none of your business, what he does with it can be debated.

I'm pretty sure with this new job (other thread I've lurked in) you are being paid (plus benefits) more than you are worth.

Any wealth you get, you should have the right to do with it as you please, just remember we have in this country the right to do as we wish even if you don't like it. Not everyone is as lucky as you are for a myriad of circumstances. Count your blessings.

Although I can understand your point, you'd be no better than 'those poor people' if you had a family on your own. Have two or three kids, wife and pets - lose your job(s) and BOOM you're in the same boat as them, living on government help. It's entirely possible you could be stuck there for a while or worse for good.

200 a month is reasonable amount to have somewhat reliable transportation.
300 a month is 10 dollars a day for 4 people. That's even on the low side.

Even at SAMs club a pair of jeans and a polo is going to cost you 25 dollars. For 1 person. Not counting the 5 pairs of shoes kids go through every year.

As only an example, the poor people of hurricane Katrina would have loved to have leave their homes if only they could afford it. It really is kind of hard to plan your way out a 100 foot financial hole you're stuck in. For most in this country (poor and kinda poor), their situation was never their's to control. It amazing that based on the population numbers you were lucky enough to be born in a first world country. Lay off the poor, they get crapped on enough.

'Poor republicans' make me giggle.

I count my blessings every day, but I PROMISE you, the "kids having kids" scenario is way more prevalent than the "I had a good job and 3 kids but now I'm unemployed" situation. Hell, even my workplace seems liek a fugging baby factory today, and there are more than a handful or 20-25 years olds knocked up and saying things like "I don't know how we're goint to handle all the new bills". I hate to say it, but this has become the rule, not the exception.

I promise you, I know what the hell you are talking about with kids having kids, I used to be a high school teacher. I would argue that this has less to do with how much money is floating around this country and more to do with how we raise children; respect and expectations for children and adults have changed.

We definitely see eye to eye on that.
