when people go to college, they give themselves a chance to rise up in class.

oh sure, you can do it other ways. you can start a business (successful one built by ridiculous amounts of work), you can know someone, you can slave away until an age where college doesnt matter, or you can be born into a family with money.

with a college diploma, you can skip on by some of that depending on the degree.

That may have been true in the past, now, you get a college degree; THEN you go through that process.

Except for the being born into money part.... unless your parents worked their arses off to get the money.

False. Therein lies the myth. Sure, you can bust ass, but it's not a guarantee. It's got a higher Pk, but not a guarantee.

Quit bitching about having to get a college degree these days. God forbid we compete with other countries. And before you complain about having to get a bachelor degree, you better start complaining about the Master's being the new norm.

There's plenty of ways to go without a degree, the problem is that everyone that doesn't get a degree is too stupid to see the ways you can go without a degree.

When Shaniqua drops out of High School, do you think she is planning on working for any of the below?
-Carpenting
-Furniture/building
-Plumber
-Air conditioning
-Home designer
-Hair dresser

All of those are fairly simple manual labor jobs that are (and always will be hence everyone shits) ALWAYS in high demand. Instead Shaniqua says she is going to go into the fine art of delivering pizza while smoking 2 packs a day.

One of 2 things is going to happen:
-Either we are going to be the next India and bring back crap manual labor of T-Shirt building (all the while expecting to be paid enough for a house LOL)
-Or we will keep rising in college graduates, and instead of this portion of 40/60 for manual labor/service jobs, we will become closer and closer to 10/90 for service jobs as more die off.

As of right now, bringing back manual labor is starting to win thanks to liberals. I'm getting the popcorn ready for the rude awakening that will commence.

It's not a liberal/conservative thing. It's a necessity. If nobody's there to do that work, it falls apart. Why don't you just shut the fuck up with this political nonsense and get practical for a moment?

Sure, carpentry isn't that difficult, but everything's a challenge. When I go apply for a job at a McDonald's and see kids that still screw up counting change after they had a machine do the work for them, I see someone that can't be a carpenter. Those math skills they thought weren't important (funny enough, they still don't after they couldn't figure out making change), can ruin your work if you screw it up, and might even hurt you pretty bad/kill you as a carpenter. It can kill you as a plumber/HVAC tech, too.

Also, you have no idea how many Shaniquas are hair dressers, do you? I know that was the generic underachiever job description moment when you said pizza delivery, but I'm just saying.

Those jobs aren't for everyone, but they certainly are for some. All of the jobs you mentioned? There's a school for them. They fully expect you to be already trained and as competent as an apprentice can be before you even think of applying for them. In other words, you have to be certified. That's the most pointless requirement I've ever seen, because I thought apprenticeships worked just fine. That's essentially what these certificate things are, just a more formal apprenticeship and you have to pay someone in money you don't have instead of labor to become qualified (unless you went to vo-tech in high school when it was free. I think they should require you to learn a trade like they used to, but that's just me). For your little wet dream of people working, as you call them, shit jobs to come true, that has to change in order to fill the demand that's growing every day. Unless there's some gross misunderstanding on my part of how these people are trained.

EDIT: With the benefit of hindsight, I should have skipped the physics and calculus electives (for fuck's sake... why are they not requirements?) and spent that time going to vo-tech, but I thought I was going to be somebody someday.

Yes, there is a gross misunderstanding on your part - what business does a business have of PAYING THEIR MONEY to train YOUR ASS in school OR on the job? Simple as that fuckstick.

The only advantage to ANY job taking in an unskilled/untrained worker is to have the advantage to start them off at lowball pay, and then train them along the way. Instead people walk in expecting $40k+ Imagine that. It's either that, or you pay to go to a school that will certify you as trained.

Or do you want the government to subsidize that? Yes, let's do that! The GUBMENT should have FREE schooling for ALL specializations of trade!

Then if they aren't willing to make the investment, in time or money, they have no right to bitch about the quality of their applicants and employees.

They already do subsidize that. How do you think high school kids can go to vo-tech for free? I see that program expanding just by necessity. We've run out of people that can do those jobs, and the certification will become a larger and larger block as the economy further stagnates (it will, just give it time).

Is it really so much for them to ask for livable wages when the boss lives as comfortably as he does? Why is that behavior considered justifiable, but people asking for a little more because they're going hungry considered entitled? I never get an answer to those questions.

It isn't justifiable because you wouldn't know the first thing of a livable wage. The concept of being entitled to afford a 2-story home with food+clothes for a family of 4 on minimum wage is what these laughable expectations have come to.

The boss is entitled to his comfortable living because at one point - he was in the very position you or I was. Working their ass off to attain it. Instead, some people chose cheetos and videogames instead - and that's their choice. But saying "That's another person, why can't I be where he is instantly tomorrow?" is really the questions that liberals are asking. It's downright jealousy at its finest.
