I am stupid: 2 out of 5 broken whell studs. should i pay to fix it or buy the tools?
Car is a 2006 Sonata. I dont have any tools whatsoever other than what comes with the car.
I guess the previous owner was as stupid as me to not wrench it properly so i had to make too much strenght to pull the lugs off. I consider myself a mechanic inclined person and I think i d be able to fix it myself. A person I know wants to charge me 50 bucks for the labor, i think its a very fair price since it'd take more than one hour for me to fix it but I could use the money to buy the tools . However i dont have a garage, the work would have to be done on the street.  |

I would just take it to a professional and they'll have it fixed in a couple hours. You're fine to drive it to them, as long as its not some stupid long distance.

I only say no because, as a dumb teenager, I snapped one of the lugs off and put the wheel back on with only 4 usable lugs instead of 5. I'd say everything was fine for a couple of months until the car started to shake down the highway with about 10 miles to go. Pull up to my house and the passenger side slams down almost to the ground. Walk around to that side of the car and the wheel was half hanging off.
But, you're probably good driving it to the shop. What you're not ok in doing is just putting the wheel back on and driving around and forgetting you have a problem in the first place.

Pay for a tow, pay your pal or w/e to do it for you, 50 is fair. Replacing studs is easy but I wouldn't attempt it as a novice with no tools.
I replaced studs on the Eclipse, for a week or two after I'd randomly have to pull over and retighten. Scary shit. Sent from my LG-H910 using Tapatalk

Tools?
Punch oversized nut/spacer and heavy washers star lug wrench punch old one out Draw new one in with lug nut 15 minutes |
