I read this elsewhere also.

Unfortunate event for all involved.

an 8 year old would have a very hard (if even possible) time shooting a rifle or shotgun ... shooting him/herself in the head.

an uzi..why on earth.

Seriously, an automatic weapon? The only way I can think of someone shooting themselves in the head is shooting an automatic. What the fuck is an 8 year old doing with an automatic mini-machine gun? Are we Somalia now?

Hey I'm not saying it was right to let an 8 year old shoot the gun.

Well it depends on the 8 yr old.

It really sounds like a tragic accident, maybe some negligence on the part of the parent.

Yes, some one died with a gun. Was it criminally negligent, no (at least from what I can see). This is no different then people that let their kids race go karts and die from an accident when they flip it. Having a gun involved does not make it any worse then that.

Most adults with limited shooting experience would find a fully automatic sub machine gun to be difficult to handle. You can only assume the child was also of limited experience due to his incredibly young age. I'm not even taking into account this kid's hands were likely way too small to even hold the weapon properly.
